SCRIPTURE FOCUS FOR SUNDAY. We are called to be one, just as Jesus and his Father are one. We become one with each other and with them through our sharing in Holy Communion. But there are many others we are called to be one with as well. May we learn how to be one with them too.

THIS SUNDAY IS WORLD COMMUNICATIONS DAY. This was established by Pope Paul VI to pray for and celebrate the work of all involved in communications and the media. Pope Francis has chosen for this year’s theme “The truth will set you free (John 8:32)”. He asks “What is fake news and how can we recognise it?” and speaks of the truth that will set us free and of peace as the “true news”. Please pray for the efforts of the Church to communicate the Good News and help with your donations.

MAGNIFICAT. The June edition is available at the back of church.

We are Christians who belong to the Catholic Church throughout the world…
We believe that our ‘Church’ is not just a building but all those people who follow the way of Jesus in different Christian traditions, tooted in our common belief in the Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We meet together regularly to pray to God, to hear God’s Word and to celebrate the Sacraments.
We try to care for one another, especially at difficult times in our lives, and try to help each other grow in faith.
We are ordinary people, not one of us more important than the other, concerned for and trying to get involved in the life of the community in which we live.
We pray for the needs of the poor everywhere, and try to find ways of working for justice and peace for all.
We try to accept our responsibility to use our gifts and talents for the benefit of others and in caring for God’s world.
And at all times we try to be a people of hope…
with gratitude for the past, enthusiasm for the present, and hope for the future.
